CLARENCE SNYDER - ACCEPTS AWARD AS AA FOUNDER APRIL 1979 Clarence is the author of the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Edition Big Book Story, "HOME BREWMEISTER." This is NOT an Alcoholics Anonymous talk by Clarence. This is a recording that was made by AA member Joe Hart in the central Florida area in early April of 1979. He made this recording as an historical record of Clarence Snyder accepting, "The Jefferson Award," as the "FOUNDER OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS." Clarence Snyder has always been a controversial figure in Alcoholics Anonymous and this recording indicates that this was true in central Florida in April 1979. This recording although short, is a thorough audio documentation of the order of events that led up to Clarence receiving the Jefferson Award. Many area AA member names are mentioned as having concern about Clarence maintaining his anonymity. Joe Hart clearly states that Clarence, "Accepted the Award as the Founder of AA." This recording also includes the April 10th, 1979 CBS channel 6 television broadcast of Clarence's comments on receiving the award. A very interesting recording.
