BILL GREEN - CANADA 6-26-77 Bill is the author of the 2nd Edition Big Book Story, "THERE'S NOTHING THE MATTER WITH ME." Bill is from New Jersey and he's a really great down-to-earth AA speaker. When his drinking became bad he tried a geographical cure by moving to the west coast. It didn't work. In no time at all he was up to a fifth of alcohol daily just to feel normal. His wife, who he had been married to for 53 years at the time of this talk, had to lock him in his room with no clothing so he couldn't go out and buy booze. Bill ended up on skid row drinking Muscatel with the winos. He eventually found the Salvation Army who put him to work bailing newspapers for 95 cents per week. Bill became a panhandler. He ended up in a hospital in a straight jacket. That's when he first heard of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was pretty much strong armed into AA by a couple of real tough cookies. This AA speech is great; a little humor and a great message. He finishes his talk by saying, "You don't have to worry about God anymore. He's sitting right in front of your eyes. Try it sometimes. Thanks for having me." Contents - 15 Tracks Length - 76 Minutes |
