BETH HARTLEY - CINCINNATI, OHIO 5-4-01 Beth is the author of the 4th Edition Big Book Story, "EMPTY ON THE INSIDE." Beth recorded this AA talk at Pockets of Enthusiasm in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 4, 2001. Since her father was also an AA Member, Beth is a second generation AA. She mentions accompanying her dad to AA meetings and him sending her a package of AA books and a tape of his lead the first time she sought AA's help for herself. Her story is very contemporary. She talks of issues like drugs, single parenthood and how other modern problems present additional problems for the recovering person. Beth talks about growing up in Ohio with a father in recovery. She shares some of her adolescent attitudes and her early drinking. She tells of the progression of her alcoholism, her faltering recovery and how she finally hit bottom and got sober.
