DR BOB & BILL WILSON - WASHINGTON, DC 1-31-48
Dr Bob speaks only for about a minute and a half at the beginning of this recording. We’re including it in our Dr Bob category because of the very few recordings that are available of him. After that, Bill Wilson steps up to the microphone and tells the story of meeting Dr Bob and recruiting Bill Dotson. Bill acknowledges both Ruth Hock and Agnes Mayo (wife of Fitz Mayo – Our Southern Friend) who are in the audience. Bill says he considers everyone in those early days pioneers, not just Dr Bob and himself.

DR BOB - CLEVELAND, OH 7-3-50
This recording was made in Cleveland, Ohio on July 3rd, 1950. The occasion was The First International Alcoholics Anonymous Convention. It also happened to be the last talk given by Doctor Bob. He had been in bed for about 5 months prior to this talk. He died a short time after this talk. He speaks for just a short time but his words are spoken from the heart. He tells us that none of us would have made it this far without someone standing behind us giving us support. After Dr Bob finishes, Bill Wilson speaks for the remainder of the recording. He tells us of the unselfish way that Dr Bob gave his time to this program. Bill most likely knew that Dr Bob wasn't going to be around much longer. Bill goes on to tell about how the AA program came to be. A very interesting recording.

DR BOB - DETROIT, MI 1948 & HOME RECORDING 1947
This recording is rare. It is possibly the only recording of Doctor Bob's wife, Ann Smith. This is a very interesting CD. The first part is fairly short but it gives you a look into the Smith household in the 1940s. This part of this recording was made in 1947 at Dr Bob's house in Akron, Ohio by the Smith family. It was recorded as an audio message to Bill and Lois Wilson. The people on this part of the recording are: Dr Bob, his wife, Ann, Dr Bob's Son, Smitty, and Smitty's wife, Betty. The second part of this CD, and the larger part of it, is a talk Dr Bob gave the very next year in Detroit, Michigan. He talks about the early days of AA, Bill Wilson, and the formation of Alcoholics Anonymous.
