BOB EARLL - HARTFORD, CT APRIL 1990
Bob Earll from Tucson, Arizona delivered this Adult Children of Alcoholics talk at the 6th ACA Convention in Hartford, Connecticut in April of 1990. Though very emotional, this is not a typical Bob Earll talk. At the time this speech was made, Bob had a 26 month old daughter. He says he’s glad his daughter never experienced the trauma and abused that he suffered as a child. Bob said that at one time his greatest desire was for people to see how he was burned by life.

BOB EARLL - MESA, AZ 5-19-90
Bob made this recording at the 2nd Annual Desert Roundup in Mesa, Arizona on May 19th, 1990. In the decade of the 90s, and celebrating 27 years of sobriety, Bob was becoming known in the circles as AA's bad boy. He loved to shake it up and thrived on the controversy whenever he spoke. Incorporating all his knowledge and experience into his talks, Bob delves into subjects usually reserved for other programs. A big proponent of ACOA and an adult child himself, much on this recording is focused in this arena. He also talks a lot about feelings. A riveting roller coaster ride and one you will not soon forget.

BOB EARLL - SAN DIEGO, CA 6-21-87
Bob Earll gave this Adult Children of Alcoholics talk at the 3rd Annual ACA Picnic in San Diego, California on June 21st, 1987. Bob tells the crowd that expressions of his true feelings were denied in his household when he was growing up. He says that even though he has now matured physically there’s still a little voice inside of him that tells him he’d better not cry because that’s for sissies. It took Bob a very long time to realize that it’s OK for him to be afraid. Bob talks about his mother quite a bit and how he still has difficulty getting along with her. He says that expression of our feelings is true recovery and if we could cry more we would do much better in recovery.

HOPE FOR ADULT CHILDREN OF ALCOHOLICS (4 CDs)
Hope for Adult Children of Alcoholics is an awesome series of lectures from outstanding counselors in the field of recovery. In this 4 CD collection there are eight different speakers covering seven topics.
FULFILLMENT IN RECOVERY - EARNIE LARSEN Earnie has 20 years in recovery in 12 step programs. He has worked in client care and believes recovery is possible. He tells of several cases he was involved in illustrating “People Can Change”.
DECISIONS AND CHOICES - ELENE LOECHER Elene is assistant Director at Hazelden. She lectures about choosing to “give up away from life” (controlled by fear), or choosing to “give up into life” (being in touch with wants and needs) and beginning to feel the sense of belonging that Twelve Step programs give us.
ADULT RELATIONSHIPS - ROBERT SUBBY M.A. Robert works in the field of addiction due to an alcoholic family and has been sober twelve years himself. Codependency is saying yes when we mean no, compromising our own feelings, getting mixed messages where nothing can be counted on, and not having a solid foundation of trust in the early years.
STAGES OF GROWTH - BARBARA NAIDITCH Barbara is a co founder of Children Are People Too. She identifies new stages of growth for happiness, where inside and outside feelings match.
GRIEF & LOSS - MARTY KREUZER Marty states Adult Children should think wellness, not illness. We are growth oriented, like all living things. If you have never tasted salt, how would you describe it? We are not able to identify how we grew up. We tend to depress instead express our experience.
THE 12 STEPS AND ACA - SONDRA S. Sondra describes a “house of resignation or of rage, not of acceptance” (the house of alcoholism). Little people want to be big people and change the climate of the house; they find that the climate they grew up with followed wherever they went.
REFLECTIONS - BOB W. Bob is a wounded but a healing child and talks about becoming a whole child, and having feelings of shame and fear from 3 years old. He describes a feeling of instinctive defensiveness and an alarming rush of adrenaline; a feeling that something unpleasant is about to happen to him. He became a responsible, protective person at an early age.
REFLECTIONS - ELLEN W. Ellen’s father’s alcoholism is still part of life today for her. She talks about overcoming sadness, fear, and shame. This review written by Andrea M of Hemet, California

TWELVE STEPS FOR ADULT CHILDREN OF ALCOHOLICS (2-CDs)
The 12 Steps for Adult Children is a unique tool for the millions of adults who suffer the effects of having grown up in a dysfunctional environment. It is the first audio which focuses on the 12 steps as they specifically apply to adult children. Children raised in addictive or other dysfunctional families rarely develop a sense of personal security or genuine feelings of self-worth. Seldom feeling safe and loved as children, they are handicapped in their ability to feel whole or to give and receive love as adults. Based upon the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, this audio offers a specific format for moving from isolation and denial to acceptance and competence in dealing with feelings of anger, guilt, fear, and despair. By releasing the past and opening up to the present, individuals begin to develop confidence in the realization that they are valuable and worthwhile persons.
